SNG Life Skills improves decision making, problem solving, goal setting, social skills, nutrition, money management, public interaction and vocational skills.
This program includes a wide-range of knowledge and skill interactions designed to foster independent living for young adults: cooking, laundry, hygiene, communication, safety awareness, socially responsible behavior, overcoming fears, self-confidence, traveling and leisure activities. In addition, we will teach etiquette, safe social media use and navigating the digital world.
SNG Life Skills is a one-year program consisting of classroom and hands-on field instruction. Student will typically spend eight months in the classroom and four months in the field for career skills and planning. While in the classroom, students will spend some time working in the renovation shop of our partner company Donors 2 Doers.
In the shop setting, students will learn the art of antique restoration and contribute to the process and goals of Donors 2 Doers. Once the items are restored, they are sold to the public and 50% of the net proceeds are donated back to the SNG Life Skills program. These proceeds are used to purchase education material, supplies and provide scholarships for economically disadvantaged students with disabilities.
